Keeping Cooperative Housing Affordable in Brightwood
In Brightwood, DC, CFE is helping longtime, low-income residents preserve the cooperative they have called home for years. Through a $1.5 million construction-to-permanent loan, CFE is supporting critical building upgrades that will improve living conditions, add accessibility features, and help families earning below 50% of AMI remain in place in a high-demand DC neighborhood. The project also reflects strong local partnership, with Mi Casa serving as development consultant and the DC Department of Housing and Community Development providing additional support.
From Salon Owner to Building Owner
CFE provided a $680,000 commercial mortgage loan to help Izzy Salon purchase the building where it will operate. Founded by Isabelle Goetz, a woman and immigrant entrepreneur with more than 20 years of experience, the salon employs 14 people and serves a loyal DC client base. With support from CFE and a DC grant, Izzy Salon is moving from tenancy to ownership, creating greater stability for the business, its employees, and the community it serves.

City First Enterprises Earns Investment-Grade Rating from Fitch
Fitch Ratings has assigned City First Enterprises (CFE) a BBB+ Issuer Default Rating with a Stable Outlook, making it one of only a handful of CDFIs nationwide to earn an investment-grade rating from a Nationally Recognized Statistical Rating Organization. The milestone follows years of roughly 30% annual loan portfolio growth and is expected to expand CFE's access to institutional capital for investments in affordable housing, small businesses, and clean energy in underserved communities.
